IAG Working Group Meeting

The meeting aimed to discuss formalizing engagement with Government Authorities, the IAG website, and capacity-building trainings for IAG members. Kirit Parmar, IAG Convener, commenced the session by introducing participants and the IAG Working Group. Mihir Bhatt chaired the meeting, guiding discussions on various topics.

 

Parmar outlined past interventions, emphasizing Risk Informed-Gram Panchayat Development Plans (RI-GPDP) and operational multi-purpose cyclone shelters (MPCS). Future interventions included strengthening the IAG, enhancing emergency response coordination, and supporting RI-GPDP implementation. A presentation on the IAG website garnered feedback for improvement.

 

Participants shared experiences during Cyclone Biparjoy, highlighting its impact and relief efforts. Discussions focused on strengthening collaboration with government authorities, proposing state-level events to showcase IAG’s work. Climate change’s impact on Gujarat’s disaster calendar was emphasized, along with the need for resource mapping. Legalization and resource management for IAG were deliberated, suggesting consultation with auditors.

 

The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks from Kirit Parmar and Mihir Bhatt, expressing gratitude for attendees’ valuable contributions. Overall, the session addressed the IAG’s past, present, and future initiatives, emphasizing collaboration with government bodies, climate change considerations, and legal aspects for effective disaster response and management.
